In the interest of helping organizations determine whether they should dedicate their time to apply for a Bob Woodruff Foundation grant, we’re offering a new opportunity to submit a formal request for BWF feedback prior to starting a full application. Please note that this step is NOT mandatory, and our full application is always open to the public.
BWF’s Investments Team plans to review proposals and provide feedback within a month of submission, pending the volume of requests we receive. Be mindful of upcoming deadlines for application review should you choose to submit a proposal first; BWF is not responsible for an organization missing an application review window while awaiting BWF feedback on a proposal.

Successful proposals typically do not request funding for a single event, advocacy, or lobbying efforts, general operating expenses, home building/repairs, a new initiative, a capital campaign, basic needs assistance that does not include wraparound services, or mental health programs that do not provide treatments recommended in the VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines.
Who should submit a proposal:
o Organizations that have not previously applied for BWF funding and are interested in preliminary feedback on their proposed program
o Prior grantees not in an active BWF grant that are interested in reengaging with BWF about funding opportunities
Who should not submit a proposal:
o Organizations that have been advised by a BWF Program Officer to submit a grant application
o Individuals seeking emergency financial or fertility assistance.
Who should reach out to our team before submitting a proposal:
o Organizations affiliated with a large institution (e.g., university or hospital system) that may have multiple departments interested in pursuing BWF funding
o Organizations that have a unique tax status or other concerns about eligibility
